Diabetic Snack BarsPosted on March 18, 2010. I am diabetic type 2, not on medication. What snack bars are the best to take on my hiking in the mountains? I'm day hiking for several hours each day in the high mountain areas in Canada and want to take light food when I'm hungry. What better way to avoid hypoglycemia? Glucerna bars are very good. without sugar, but important source of carbohydrates and proteins that affect the ease of blood sugar. They come in meal size and the size snacks. Something with a sugar / carb will do. If you're not on medication and you eat properly, you probably will not need anything. Type 2s are no drugs are usually not a problem with hypoglycemia. As you do strenuous exercise, it is a good idea to have something in hand like any other hiker would. I hope you will take a meter so you can check your blood sugar before eating a snack bar to make sure that you really need. If you eat and you do not need you run the risk of hyperglycemia. The bars Quaker I think might be good, but I would take apples, hard candy, take a meter with you to control your blood sugar, I know you will burn calories, although they could add too much sugar and you do not want to become hyperglycemic. First all why are not you on drugs? I eat peanut butter and crackers that works for me. CommentsThere are no comments.Leave a Comment |
