Licorice Tea

Posted on February 13, 2010.
Licorice TeaWhat is "Tea Extract and what is" licorice extract? Are they halal?

The tea extract is contained in ice tea, and licorice extract is contained in the milk chocolate coated licorice.

What tea extract and what we extract from licorice made?
Do they contain alcohol?
Are they halal?

They are herbal. They are added to feed back the flavor that is lost in processing.

Some extracts are alcohol free and be Halal. Some extracts are dried and is also Halal. Alcohol is used in some extracts of "carrying" chemical plants that provide the flavor. Some plant chemicals are insoluble in alcohol. Alcohol evaporates at the temperature of our body. After being mixed with other ingredients, the alcohol evaporates, leaving behind the taste. If extracts of alcohol were used to make tea and candy, it should have all evaporated before being packaged.

There is no way to know for sure if you contact the manufacturer and ask them what kind of clips they use. This could be a good idea because then you know and can either continue to enjoy eating them or could be waived.

Extracts of flavorings are made from what they are and a sample of some contain a small amount of alcohol. I do not know what is Halal if I can not answer this question.
