good press releases
Follow the basic principles of journalism - who, what, when, where and why. This means, short sentences and that bites transmit facts.
The two-page rule is still valid.
"Chronological" format (titles, company names, descriptions of work contained in the order date) is the preferred format. However, those with several years of experience most often opt for abbreviated "functional" version.
Arial and Times New Roman fonts are recommended. Exotic fonts are distracting and difficult to read. Be consistent font throughout.
Keep in bold, italic and underline to a minimum. They are usually reserved for sub-headings that include company names, titles and dates. Use highlights references to titles of publications, citations and other.
Use one-inch margins top and bottom, and at least a half-inch margins left and right. It is better to have more white space than too many words.
On the job and / or career goals are career guidance when not obvious from reading the resume. summaries and career highlights are also OK.
Avoid "cutesy" approach. No gifts (like a piece of Brie with a notation in the "Big Cheese"), stunts (ball / flower deliveries) teasers (telegrams delivered, says about this: "I have a great idea for a campaign . Hire me and I'll tell you what it is).
CV on cassettes, CDs, records and pages of high rag content are a good contact, but costly to produce and distribute. Keep it simple.
Word processing model curriculum vitae are quite acceptable and useful to the maintenance of the writer within guidelines basic format.
Letters
Keep to one page.
Do not begin your letter by saying: "If you're looking for someone, etc. etc." Well, look no further. "There are opportunities for our customers will certainly go further.
By typing your high school teacher taught you - do not seem too buddy when writing a business letter. maintain professionalism at all times.
And remember, almost all software correspondence has a spell checker and, in some cases, a grammar-checker. Use it.
If you send your letter and resume by fax or by U.S. mail, make sure you sign it. It's a nice personal touch in another impersonal, the digital world. When sending a letter e-mail, close the letter with your name typed.
Thank you notes
Nothing in the computer world can replace a handwritten thank you note. It is polished, it is personalized, it is professional. Given the glut of e-mails everyone, least of all employers receive an e-mail of thanks can be lost, deleted or ignored. By sending your copy of the good old days, you will be known by your good manners, in addition to everything you bring to the table, if you're hired.
Job seekers do not need to spend a fortune, a box of letterhead and envelopes of the simple local stationery nicely. Keep your stamped envelopes in advance - that way it is harder to procrastinate about.
