Our grandmothers did not need a lot of fancy ingredients to come up with some great desserts, but you knew how to put a few things together and come up with something to remember. By following these recipes you can cook up a blast from the past!

1 / 4 c. nutmeg

Jean's Old Fashion Pie cream

John was a great cook and his mother in the area where I grew up in the 1950s.

A raw pie shell 9 inch
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 / 2 cup flour
1 tsp teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt
1 / 2 cup cream, half and half
milk

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

In a medium bowl, stir together brown sugar, white sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt, gradually add cream. When the mixture is well blended Pour into pie shell. Add enough milk to fill the tank if necessary. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees and cook another 30 minutes.

Note: To keep the crust from getting too brown, you can cover crust edges with foil and remove 5-10 last minutes of cooking time.

Enjoy!
